David Haye and Richard Schaefer announced today that they are joining the highly competitive business of boxing promoting. They have formed Hayemaker Ringstar.

Richard Schaeffer who is former CEO of Golden Boy Promotions who are a huge boxing promoters. It has also been announced they have signed an “exclusive deal with a major UK broadcaster”. Well with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom having Sky Sports exclusively for their fights. Frank Warren having BT Sport. It is said Hayemaker Ringstar are looking at possibly ITV with their recent announcement of starting a box office. The first fight on the brand new channel being Chris Eubank Jr against Renold Quinlan for the IBO world middleweight title on February 4th. Channel 5 and UKTV have also been rumoured as possible broadcasters which Haye and Schaefer have struck an exclusive deal with. Some people think this won’t really work because Matchroom and Frank Warren and others have all of the biggest fighters. Well what they are saying is that this promoters will basically be better because Haye is part owner and he has a vast knowledge of boxing with his boxing career. Richard Schaefer has a huge knowledge of the promotions side because of his work at Golden Boy Promotions. I think both Haye and Schaeffer will combine to form what could be a top level promoter in the future, building up some prospect fighters to become world champions. One thing that has been emphasised is that they aren’t just going for UK prospect and up and coming fighters, they are going around the world and bringing them to the UK to gain them more limelight and bigger fights.
