Anthony Crolla – Lightweight

Crolla is a former WBA lightweight champion who has been fighting professionally for over 10 years. Anthony “Million Dollar” Crolla is a super fighter with a record of 31-5-3 over 10 years is superb. Crolla recently lost his WBA belt to Jorge Linares but is still highly rated among boxing fans. In terms of actual rankings he is: WBC – 7 and WBA – 4. Crolla’s next fight will most likely be against Linares in a rematch. Eddie Hearn said “The rematch will happen in March” and “We’re looking at March 25th in Manchester. It going to be another good fight”.

Anthony Joshua – Heavyweight

Anthony “AJ” Joshua is a solid fighter who is the current IBF Heavyweight champion. Joshua is set to fight Klitschko for the WBA “super” belt on April 29th at Wembley Stadium. After his recent victory which over Eric Molina,  which was easy for AJ, Joshua is set for one of the biggest fights of 2017. Joshua is a top fighter and if he does or even if he doesn’t beat Klitschko he will be set to fight the biggest and the best in the heavyweight division. After Joshua fights Klitschko, whoever wins, they will have to face one of the mandatory challengers for either the WBA or IBF belts who are Luis Ortiz and Kubrat Pulev respectively. He can only face one opponent but the problems may occur because if he fights Ortiz for example he may be stripped of his IBF belt. So the victor may have to decide between the two belts which he has just won. Kalle and Nisse Sauerland (Pulev’s promoters) confirmed via twitter that the winner of Joshua vs Klitschko must face Pulev “in the next fight (no fight in between permitted). As this is confirmed by the promoters I think that it will be the same for both belts and so whoever wins the belts may be stripped of them soon after winning them.

Kell Brook – Welterweight

Kell “Special K” Brook is a world class boxer who is the IBF World Welterweight champion. After fighting Gennady Golovkin in a huge fight in September at the O2 Arena. Brook was defeated in round 5 when the fight was stopped because he took too much damage. But even though he lost he put up a real fight and proved why he is a world champion. Brook continued to fight even with what turned out to be a broken eye socket. With a professional record of 36-1 with his loss being to the GGG, Brook’s next fight could be against a top fighter. He could face Errol Spence who is undefeated at 21-0 and is top quality fighter. Spence would definitely want the opportunity at a title shot and if he fights Brook in England it could gain him more publicity and bigger fights. Brook could also face Amir Khan in a fight which would be huge and could sell out somewhere like the O2 Arena very quickly. Brook is a fighter who is become more known and more popular fight by fight and if he faces either opponent it will gain him fights which will help him progress into a possible world title fight.

Tony Bellew – Cruiserweight

Bellew is a controversial fighter who is the WBC world champion who is set o move up to heavyweight for his next fight. Bellew has been fighting professionally since 2007 and is 28-2-1. Bellew’s most recent fight was against BJ Flores in his first defence of his world title since he won the belt against Ilunga Makabu in a huge night of boxing at Goodison Park. Bellew defeated Flores in a dominant fight but was knocked down once but that was apparently not because of pain it was due to balance. Bellew then went on to force a stoppage as he knocked Flores down three times in round 2 and brutally knocked him out in round three. Bellew is set to fight David Haye in what will be a grudge match on March 4th. After his fight with BJ Flores, “Bomber” Bellew ran straight to David Haye and verbally assaulted him and was clearly angry and showed how much he really wanted the fight with Haye. Bellew is a great fighter but if he gets hit with one of Haye’s heavy shots he will for sure fall to the canvas just like any other opponent of Haye. If Bellew wins the fight he may stay at Heavyweight or he may return to Cruiserweight to defend his world title because if he stays at Heavyweight he may be stripped of the belt or forced to vacate it. Bomber has a huge future ahead of him and if he keep fighting the way he is at the moment he could have a Heavyweight title shot one day or have a unification bout at Cruiserweight.

James DeGale – Super Middleweight

James DeGale is and always has been a great fighter and is set to face Badou Jack on January 14th. DeGale’s most recent fight was against Rogelio Medino which saw DeGale win by unanimous decision. DeGale is the IBF Super Middleweight champion and is fighting Badou Jack in a unification battle. DeGale has a record of 23-1 with the loss being to George Groves. James DeGale is capable of beating Badou Jack when it comes to ability but whether he can beat him and can handle the pressure of unification bout is a different matter. The winner of this bout will face mandatory challenger Callum Smith who many think is capable of winning a world title. DeGale said he is not worried about a potential fight with Smith and he “will not be losing any sleep” over a possible fight. One thing is certain that even if DeGale loses he still will be well known and fights with other big names may still happen.

Callum Smith – Super Middleweight

The undefeated Callum Smith is also among Matchroom wide range of boxers. Smith is a serious up and coming fighter who is capable of being world champion, he is set to face the winner of DeGale vs Jack. Smith has only been fighting for four years but already has a very impressive record of 22-0. Smith’s most recent bout was against Luke Blackledge, was a showstopper. Smith landed some dangerous shots which connected and put Blackledge on the canvas twice during the fight. Then in round 10 Smith ended the fight with a brutal left hook which put Blackledge on the canvas and the fight was over. Smith fought very well and proved why he will have a shot at being a world champion as he dominate Blackledge who didn’t fight overly badly but could not match Smith’s standard. The next fight with the winner of DeGale vs Jack will be a great fight because of the build up and anticipation that has already started and the fact that Smith is undefeated and is having his first title shot against one of the best boxers in the division will be very interesting to watch. After the fight with
