So Anthony Joshua IBF heavyweight champion of the world, who will he fight after Wladimir Klitschko. Check out the full post on the Joshua vs Klitschko fight?

Possible opponents

Luis Ortiz

Ortiz is a solid fighter and is the WBA mandatory challenger so whoever wins out of Kllitschko and Joshua will have to face him. if they don’t face him they will be stripped of the belt. Ortiz fought on the Joshua vs Molina undercard against David Allen (The White Rhino). Ortiz showed real skill and power against Allen and proved he deserves a world title shot.

Deontay Wilder

Wilder is a well known world champion and has held his WBC heavyweight title for almost two years and has a record of 37-0 with 36 knockouts. Joshua vs Wilder would be huge fight and a massive payday for both fighters. In what would be, if Joshua beats Klitschko, a unification bout, both fighters would surely want the fight but if it were to to happen I don’t think it would be until late 2017 at least.

David Haye

After a comeback which some say was a poor excuse for a comeback, against two opponents which he walked over and demolished. Haye is set to fight Tony Bellew, who is a world champion cruiserweight, at heavyweight. Haye wants to Joshua fight and for both fighters it would prove to be a worthy fight. I think Haye would lose to AJ because he has been out of boxing for a few years and depending on how well Bellew performs depends on whether this fight will happen.

Tony Bellew

Tony “Bomber” Bellew is a cruiserweight champion and after his fight against Haye he may move back down to cruiserweight to defend his title or look at a possible unification bout. Bellew has said that he will be “prince to king AJ”, so does this mean he will stay at heavyweight? I think it all depends on how he performs against David Haye on March 4th. If he beats Haye then he would surely have priority for a fight against Joshua. This fight would be good and if Bellew proves he can fight well at heavyweight against Haye then he could be next in line on Joshua’s “to fight” list.

Tyson Fury

After beatng Wladimir Klitschko and being stripped of his IBF belt, then going on to postpone two rematches with Klitschko and vacating all of his belts, Fury has a had a busy year. Fury hasn’t been in the ring since he beat Klitschko in the huge fight in Düsseldorf, could he return to fight Anthony Joshua. Joshua is one of the best in the division and Fury fought try well against Klitschko so he could have a fight with AJ. Joshua would not have an easy fight, Fury clearly knows how to beat a champion so he is capable of beating AJ.

Hughie Fury

Hughie Fury’s ability has been questioned and people have wondered if the only reason he has fought some okay people is because he is the cousin of Tyson Fury. Hughie isn’t a bad fighter he is quite good but he hasn’t really been tested in the past, whether that was because his opponents weren’t good enough or because he is a really good fighter is unsure. Hughie Fury isn’t the next person who AJ should fight, in my opinion, because there are others that are better and have proven their ability against some high level opponents that would be a harder challenge for Joshua.

Dillian Whyte

Yes I know what you’re thinking, Joshua has already fought Whyte. Well what about a rematch. Whyte was the first person to really test Joshua and was seen to make him wobble. Even though AJ knocked him out he did prove his ability as he wasn’t walked over or knocked out within 3 rounds like all of Joshua’s opponents. A rematch would be bigger than the first fight because Whyte has fought Chisora which got him more publicity, and has fought more opponents since he fought AJ, and has fought on some undercardds of some big fights.

Kubrat Pulev

Pulev is the IBF mandatory challenger so could be the next fight for Joshua. If Joshua chooses not to fight Pulev he may be stripped of his IBF title. I think if Joshua had to choose he would choose to keep IBF and defend that because it was his first title he won so it may be more important. Pulev is a good boxer with a record of 24-1 with his loss being to Wladimir Klitschko. He has beaten Dereck Chisora and other decent fighters to prove he may be worthy of a title shot.

Joseph Parker

After winning his WBO title against Andy Ruiz in New Zealand, on the same day as Joshua vs Molina, Parker could fight AJ in a unification bout. Parker is a good fighter and could test AJ in a unification fight. Joshua and Parker are looking for the biggest fights and this is one of the biggest fights. I think this fight would be huge but I don’t think it will be next after Klitschko because Parker will most likely want or need to defend his title a couple of times before having a unification bout.

Bermane Stiverne

After not fighting Povetkin because he failed a drugs test who will Stiverne fight next? He could fight AJ he is a very solid fighter and could test Joshua. Stiverne is a good fighter and a fight with AJ could help him gain some more publicity and cause him to have some bigger fights. Stiverne vs Joshua is a fight which could happen sooner than some of the other options and could be a possible title defence for AJ.
