Latest boxing news is that Jimmy Tibbs and Billy Joe Saunders have gone separate ways.

Billy Joe Saunders did not have Tibbs assisting him for his most recent bout against Artur Akavov. The fight against Artur Akavov was not easy for Saunders as he only won on points. Saunders is a good fighter as proved by him being world champion. He has beaten some good fighters but did not put on a particularly good display. Saunders himself was not happy with his own performance and this may have been because of the coaching change and adjustments made not long before the fight. Has Saunders not be training with Tibbs for a long time but has not said anything.

I think Saunders needs the best coaching he can get. He is a solid and skilful fighter who is powerful and can beat a wide range of opponents. Saunders has a couple of options as to who will train him next. He could go for Shane McGuigan who is the trainer of David Haye, Carl Frampton, George Groves and others. Shane is an experienced trainer who should know what is right for a champion like Saunders. McGuigan obviously is doing something right after all, one of the boxers is now World Champion – Carl Frampton. I think Saunders will have McGuigan as his trainer as he knows what is best for a big fighter and can train Saunders for a possible unification bout or any fighter he comes up against in the right way.

Could it be Tony Sims. Tony is very well known trainer also as he has trained big fighters such as Anthony Joshua for some time, Ricky Burns and Conor Benn. He is a great coach who has got Ricky Burns a world title and Joshua also. I think Sims could be Saunders trainer but I think McGuigan is more likely as he is better suited to Saunders. Saunders is a very strong and skilful boxer and could be the unified champion of his division if he continues to improve.
