Anthony Joshua is going to be fighting Eric Molina in AJ’s second IBF title defence. Eric Molina from USA had his first title shot against Deontay Wilder for Wilder’s WBC title, which saw Molina lose by KO. AJ is 17-0 with all fights ending by KO. Joshua is a fast but very powerful fighter who’s brutal KO’s have sent multiple competitors to sleep. I think this fight will be a good fight but I don’t think that Molina will match AJ’s power and ability.
Dereck Chisora vs Dillian Whyte is arguably the biggest fight of the night. Some people think that it should be the main event as both competitors are very powerful. Dereck Chisora is going to be one of Dillian Whyte’s hardest contenders behind AJ in my opinion. Dillian Whyte is a brutal fighter who is sure to test Chisora with his powerful hook and uppercuts. I think that whoever wins the fight it will be by knockout. I think Chisora will KO Whyte, this is because all Whyte does it swing big punches and when he swings for a big hook and misses he loses balance. At this point I think Chisora will capitalise and knock him out, but if Whyte connect with a combination of punches of a powerful hook or uppercut I think he has a chance.
Next is the bout between Luis Concepcion and Kal Yafai. Yafai fought at the Barclaycard Arena against Johnson Tellez which he emerge victorious. Yafai is undefeated and is 20-0 with 16 knockouts. Luis Concepcion is a powerful fighter who has won some fights by KO but more recently he has won by unanimous decision. Concepcion is the defender and I think that he will win this bout. This is because Concepcion is a clinical fighter and he has more experience when it comes to title fights. I think he will handle this fight better and will be more relaxed and throw punches when he should and on the counter. Yafai is a solid boxer but I think he may be enticed in and try to throw some heavy combinations which may countered. I think this fight will go the distance or at least go past 7 rounds.
Callum Smith is also on this packed card and is fighting against Luke Blackledge. Smith is a good fighter and has fought on some huge cards including Tony Bellew’s title win and GGG vs Brook. Blackledge is also a good fighter and has an extra 3 professional fight’s under his belt than Smith. I think due to Smith having more experience fighting on huge cards and his power and speed will see him win the fight. Next is Scott Quigg vs Jose Cayetano. Scott Quigg’s most recent fight was against World Champion Carl Frampton. That fight saw Frampton emerge victorious in Manchester in a bout which was huge, Frampton won the WBA featherweight title and successfully defended the UBF Featherweight title. Jose Cayetano who is 20-4 with his most recent defeat was against Leo Santa Cruz who Frampton is set to face in January.
Luis Ortiz is going to be fighting David Allen. This fight is just one of the three heavyweight bouts on this card. This fight will be big as both fighters are heavy hitters and know they need to win this fight. The biggest fights are given to the most powerful and skilful and those who are undefeated. Whoever wins this bout will have a huge advantage into gaining the biggest fights in the future. Katie Taylor is also on the card and is fighting Viviane Obenauf in her second professional bout. Her first was explosive and showed that she should be successful in winning this bout.
Other fights on the card include Conor Benn who is fighting Josh Thorne in a super-lightweight fight. Benn is an up and coming fighter who, under the coaching and support of ex world champion and his dad Nigel Benn, is set to be a success.Hosea Burton vs Frank Buglioni in a lightweight bout for the British Championship. Marcus Morrison vs Frank Matthews in a middleweight contest.
